2nd Child

I didn’t see any other option to ask a direct question so here goes... one of our children left the program, we got a letter, but noticed another child was automatically added to our profile without our consent. I would’ve hoped this was a decision left to us as sponsors, whether we wanted to sponsor another child and who that child would be. I am more happy to sponsor the replacement child but not happy with the way this was done.

Just let them know you do not want to sponsor that child and want to sponsor X instead. They are happy to oblige. They can also place a note on your account NOT to automatically assign another child when one leaves. That's what I have. I prefer to choose my own sponsored children.  But since so many businesses sponsor with them (and maybe people who don't have that personal connection?) The current system works for those sponsors

Virginia, I sincerely apologize for the frustration and concern we caused in adding Maria to your account after Isabella left the program. At the time Isabella left Compassion's program, we sent you a letter explaining that we had a child on reserve for your consideration. The letter explained that you were under no obligation to sponsor this new child but that we would need to hear from you within 5 weeks if you decided not to continue sponsorship. Maria is currently on your account as a sponsored child, her sponsorship becoming official on the 29th. Please understand that it is our heart to get children sponsored, but we in no way want to offend anyone in doing so. In fact, we adopted the above procedure at the request of many of our sponsors. If you would like to sponsor Maria, you are absolutely welcome to do so. If you would rather choose a different child or not sponsor Maria or a different child at all, please just let me know so that I can help you make that change. Maria doesn't yet know that she has a sponsor since this was just done a few days ago if that helps you make a decision. Again, I sincerely apologize for the frustration in finding a new child on your account when you hadn't specifically chosen to sponsor another one yet.
