Add an Order ID

Compassion needs to revisit their transaction processing.

(the way they send out receipts and label individual transactions)

For over three years we've sponsored a child, paid monthly payments, sent Birthday gifts, Christmas, and Family gifts.

Every time we get an email receipt with no:

Order ID
or
Receipt #
or
Transaction ID

There is also no

Time Stamp (date, time order placed)
or
Payment Info (last 4 of card, or checking account)
or
Detailed gift breakdown

Think about when you order from Amazon. You get an email with an Order ID, payment info, and time stamp. This way you can easily track each transaction, when you placed the order, the amount paid, what you paid with and what you paid for. You can also communicate later with a representative about each individual transaction.

For example - I made a payment on Compassion's website.

I paid for a sponsored child's birthday, Christmas, and family gift.

I received a generic email. No details about which gift was which, no time stamp, no order ID.
This makes it difficult for the Sponsor to track payments.

I called Compassion later that day about an issue with my account. They were completely unaware of the payment I had made. They were unable to track my payment(s) or view them digitally.

By adding instantaneous Order identification (transaction or order ID's) this could be remedied.

Thank you Compassion for the work you do.

Note: the detailed annual gift report found in "My Account>Tax Receipts and Giving History>Tax Receipts" is an excellent example. It provides posting dates, gift types, and amounts.

Brooks, thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We value your partnership and are always looking for ways to better support sponsors and donors.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are suggesting that we should include more details about the transaction in the automatic confirmation email that you receive when you make a payment online. Is that correct?

Currently automatic confirmation emails include the amount and generally what the donation was for (Christmas Gift Fund or your child's name if it was a gift or support). That said, I could definitely see that it might be helpful to include more information with a breakdown of specifically what the donation was designated for, the amounts, and a transaction ID for future reference. I will pass your feedback along and will let you know if this idea is implemented.
