My wife and I started sponsoring another child. Is there a way for us to combine them into the same account?

Hi Chris and Jeremy! The best way to do this is to visit www.compassion.com/firstpayment. In the checkout, you will be asked "Is this your first time giving to Compassion?" Click the bubble that says "No, I have donated to Compassion in the past." This allows you to log in or create an online account so that this new sponsorship will be linked with your already existing account. You're also always welcome to give us a call at 800-336-7676 and we'd be happy to take care of this for you.

Good morning, Monica and Alex! Thank you so much for choosing to sponsor another child with us!

I see that you have been supporting Natalia for a couple of years now and just recently began sponsoring Eugenie! It looks like you created an entirely new account when you sponsored this young boy. This is not a problem to fix and I am combining these accounts for you today so that you only have to have one log in and one account with us :). I am sending you an email right now to verify which sponsor number you should continue using and which number will no longer be active for you. Please let me know if I can assist you further :).

Monica and Alex, it looks like one of the email addresses we have on file for you is undeliverable. I sent the email I spoke about above, to two of the other email addresses we had on file for you. I am hoping it reaches you at one of them! Please let me know if you receive an email from me :). If you don't get it, please email me at socialmedia@compassion.com with your preferred email and I will update your account and re send the email.

Hi Shawn! Yes, we would be happy to add the second child to the first account. It looks like your husband had mentioned this in the phone call but there was some confusion on our end. I sincerely apologize for the delay but I'll make sure this is taken care of today.

Shawn, I sincerely apologize for the confusion. I have moved your child over to the account that you and your husband share. This means that if you sign into the inactive account under just your name, you will no longer see any children there. I am sending you another email with the correct account number and information so that you can log into the correct account and see both children. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Hello! I have a question similar to this...me and my husband just started sponsoring two children at the same time, and we did it in person and set up payment with a credit card, so unfortunately I can't go through the firstpayment site. I already have the account set up for the little girl we are sponsoring, Tesfanesh, but I couldn't find a way to add the little boy we are sponsoring, Fardad, to the account. I have not set up an account for him, and his number is 3608828-6. My husband signed up for him, so it will be under his name. Please let me know what I can do! Thanks!

Hi Faith! I have requested that your new sponsorship of Farhad be transferred to your existing account 3609309 and I have added Caleb's name to your account as well :). Please allow a couple of days for this change to be seen on your My Account with Tesfanesh. You will no longer need the sponsor number 3608828 as this will become inactive since you want both children under one account. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Actually, Jeremy, it looks like you already have a second account setup for this new sponsorship. I'm in the process of combining your accounts. Please refer to this conversation from here on out.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Additional Child.

We went through the Compassion Experience and decided to sponsor an additional child.  How can I add him to my current Compassion account page login so I can have both children under my name?

Hi Nicky! Another sponsor asked a similar question and so I merged your inquiry into this conversation :). You can see instruction above in Susan's response! Please let me know if you have any other questions or any issues as you add your new kiddo to your account. Thank you so much for visiting us at the Compassion Experience and I hope that your family had an incredible time!

Hi HHH! An account was just created for you as of this morning so your username and password will work if you try to log in.

If you have a child packet for this new child you would like to add, please visit www.compassion.com/firstpayment to setup the sponsorship. If you would like to select a child from the website, please click "Sponsor a Child" and select a child there. On both the "First Payment" page and the "Sponsor a Child" page, you will be asked "Is this your first time giving to Compassion?" Please Click the bubble that says "No, I have donated to Compassion in the past." Then log into your account to link this sponsorship.

Jim, if this is a new child that you have not signed up to sponsor yet, please use the link: www.compassion.com/firstpayment. However, it looks like you had started a second account last fall under your wife's name only. If this is the child that you would like to add to your account, please email us at socialmedia@compassion.com so that we can merge the two accounts. There is a different address listed on these two accounts so we would need you to verify which address should be retained. Thank you for your partnership!

Hi Justin! As others have said, it does typically take about 2-4 weeks for sponsorships from events to be finalized. However, you are welcome to get things started by visiting www.compassion.com/firstpayment.

Please combine ET1100436 and DR5010720 into account 3045367. Use the current payment form and date for the 2nd child as well. At the concert where I sponsored my 2nd child I was told that writing "'Current Sponsor, add to current payment method' " on the form would make this happen automatically but it did not. I think a implementing a streamlined system would be a great idea for this or an option to do it ourselves. When I chose the 'add a child' option on my account it only gave me the option to sponsor a 3rd child. Hassle free is always the way to go if you want to encourage additional sponsorships. Thank you for your help.

Good morning, David! Please accept my apologies that a new account was created for your boy Julio instead of us placing him on your current account with Anwar. We certainly try to avoid creating duplicate accounts but errors like this do happen and we want to make sure to correct them for you. I have started the process today of transferring Julio over to your current account 3045367 and we will put him on the same donation schedule and the same card we have on file for for Anwar. We appreciate your patience with us as we rectify this issue and I want to encourage you that we're currently working to update our systems to improve this process easier and more efficient for our sponsors in the future.

Hi David,  I am just another sponsor but my understanding about sponsoring at a venue like a concert it takes a bit longer to get on your account.  Newly sponsored children go to a specific department at Compassion where they are entered into the program.  It takes a while because there are usually quite a bundle of kids being entered.   Since you have the number of this student you can call on Monday ask if there is anyway to get them on more quickly, like pay right then and ask them to enter the child onto your account.  Not sure if that will work or not.   Also, are you on Facebook?  There is a private group for Compassion sponsors (private to protect the children) and it is a really nice group of sponsors, from all over the world!!!  A gentleman from Australia actually has written a book about his sponsorship experiences!  The group is called Compassion Sponsors/Correspondents Facebook Forum and you can join by sending an email to the group!   Hope to to see you on the forum!

David Todd2670, I just realized I deleted a portion of my post to you!  If you want to join the Facebook group, send an email to socialmedia@compassion.com and on the subject line put Attn: Susan Saylor and ask to be added to the group called Compassion Sponsors/Correspondents Facebook Forum.

Thank you. Everything in the thread gave 2-4 weeks and it's been longer than that. Since the moderator offered to combine for several people I'll just wait for a response. Thanks again.
