I was just wondering if they're rotated from being online to being ones offered at events. I've been keeping tabs on the 4 little girls that I had almost sponsored and one of them isn't on the page anymore. It doesn't say she's been sponsored by someone else and I haven't seen her picture on the sponsor board; it just says her page doesn't exist. Her name was Sostika from Bangladesh.

I've also seen quite a few added to India that say they've been waiting 290 days and I know when I looked a few days ago, they weren't on the board. I was just curious how the system worked :) I really hope little Sostika finds someone... if we were able, we would have sponsored her too but finances only let us sponsor one for the moment.

Hi Dara, I am another sponsor and I can't tell you about the specific children mentioned above but I can say that Compassion does take children off the website and send them out to venues in hope they will find a sponsor. If they don't get sponsored they return to the website.
Dara, I wanted to ask you if you have heard of correspondent sponsors? There are a lot of children that are sponsored by corporations, entertainers, or just people that don't have time to write. Right now Compassion is trying to find correspondents for 1,000 Kenyan children. I sponsor one girl in Kenya and have signed up for up to twelve kids. I specified some ages and genders but told them I am flexible. Last I heard they had around 500 kids covered. The company (or whoever) pays the sponsorship fee, the correspondent provides the letters, love and prayers! If you are interested, email Emily at
Put Kenya Correspondents in the subject. Line. In the email give her your request as to gender and age range you would be willing to take and your sponsor number!
Also, if you are on Facebook ask to be added to the Compassion Correspondents Facebook page.

Hi Dara! As Denise was saying, we have a special system that helps us to decide how much and which specific children to list on the website and which ones to send to events. This means that the simple answer to your question is "Yes, we do rotate children to try to find them sponsors as quickly as possible." Also, the children that are listed on the website in the "Sponsor a Child" section are not listed anywhere else. This means that for a time, you would only be able to sponsor them on the website. If someone clicks on her picture, that child would automatically be placed on hold and would not be able to be found on the website for thirty minutes. That is probably why the little girl was showing as not available when you looked. She may have also been taken off of the website so that we could find a sponsor for her another way.
