Hello! My husband and I are sponsors and we would like to know if the kids that we are currently sponsoring, if they are still in the system looking for sponsor or have more than once sponsor at a time? Also I would like to know why is that we the sponsor only get one mail per quarter?

If you are writing regularly, you should get more than 1 letter per quarter.  I average 5 letters a year from most of my kids -- some are more, some are less. If you wait to get a letter before writing a response, that is probably what it will turn out to be  (Once a quarter). I try to write at least once a month (though in the summer it seems to stretch out to every 6 weeks). My child in Ecuador I sponsored in June 2017 I've had 5 letters with. The child in Uganda I got in March 2017, I've had 8 letters.  When I get letters, I respond to them. But I write and let them know I am thinking about them and what I am studying in the Bible or in history, nature, and just give general encouragement every month.

As far as I know, every child in Compassion's program has a single sponsor. I think the recent questions are because some people are confused by the correspondent program. If someone financially sponsors a child and does not want to do the writing, they can request a correspondent. Then Compassion will assign the child to a correspondent, who will write encouraging letters, etc to the child. But the child still only has 1 financial sponsor.  There is also the issue that when a financial sponsor cancels, the child is put back into the pool to be responsored so over the course of their time in the program, they will have several financial sponsors, but only one at a time.

Sandy, thank you for your questions, and Sarah, thank you for your great insight and input! You are absolutely right. Each child only has one financial sponsor and one correspondent at a time. Sometimes, the financial supporter and the correspondent are different people, but each child only has one of each. The one-to-one sponsor-to-child relationship is really important to us, and we don't want a single child to be overwhelmed by needing to write to multiple people.
