Are the children of sponsors assigned additional correspondents without notifying the sponsor?

I know that children have only one sponsor with Compassion, but are they ever assigned additional correspondents to write to without their financial sponsor’s knowledge? I’m asking this mainly because my daughter has sponsored a girl for several years, but neglected to write for the last few. I recently discovered this and took over the child’s sponsorship and write her regularly. So I wondered if she now writes other correspondents as well.

The policy is they never assign correspondents unless the sponsor requests it.  I have received a correspondence who was 17 years old and NEVER had a  letter -- but because the sponsor did not request a correspondent, she continued to get no letters until she gained a new sponsor who did want a correspondent.

Note also that if a sponsor requests a correspondent for a time and later decides to write (or realizes it was a mistake to stop writing.) They can always request to be able to write their child again.
