We just received our first letter from our child. We started sponsoring on 9/14/2018, but the letter is dated 04/11/2018. Well, really it says “11/04/2018,” but we are assuming it should be correctly read as “04/11/2018.” Why is this? Are the letters pre-written?? Even if the “4” was just sloppy & is supposed to be a “9,” it wouldn’t make sense since we didn’t sponsor until the 14th of September. Thanks!

I'm a sponsor too. Some letters by sponsor kids are pre written. The letters are kept on file until they receive a sponsor. Your sponsor child will write a new letter to you soon. It usually takes a few weeks for the child to find out about you.

theshortfamily, William is right. First letters are pre-written so that we can get those first letters to the new sponsor as soon as possible. We hold these first letters on file for up to a year. Most places in the world, aside from the US, list the date first and the month second. That is why the date is listed as 11/4/2018 and not 4/11/2018 like we would here. Thank you so much for your partnership in the life of this precious child!
