Hi Janey & Abigayle! Welcome to the Compassion support community! That is very thoughtful and kind of you to want to bless your sponsored child with toys and things like that. Our sponsored child's favorite hobby is playing with dolls and I would love for us to be able to send her a doll. Regrettably, though, Compassion does not accept packages mainly because of the high customs and duty costs associated with those items but instead they ship everything as documents. I have read that the cost to send a package to a child when it's all said and done would cost more than the item or items are worth in most cases. I also believe that another reason is that sending a financial gift (you can send financial gifts!) helps to stimulate the local economy where the child lives. When you send an additional financial gift your child always receives 100% of what you send! You can also send a financial gift and request that a specific toy be purchased for your child with the money if you would like to. You can read more about what we are able to send in this article and this forum. I'm sorry :( I know the restrictions can be a bummer. There really are a lot of creative things to send that are made out of paper, though. For example, paper dolls are ok or a deck of cards or an assembled puzzle. It just has to be paper and less than 8-1/2" x 11" and 1/4" thick. If you're on Pinterest there is a page called the Second Friday Letter Writing Club with all kinds of cool ideas on there!
