Slightly on/off topic, I was wondering if my child's, Janelle's best friend is being sponsored right now? Her name is Fatima from PH296.

Hi! Like everyone else on this thread, i am wondering if my kids in guatemala have siblings in need of sponsors. Also my Keily has a baby sister. Is it possible to sponsor her? My one child is GU 9530636. My other is GU 9920398.

Hi Lindsay! It looks like Cristian has two brothers in the home, but neither of them are in Compassion's program. Keily's sister is not in the program either. Her brother, Ezer is in the program and already has a sponsor :).

Do any of my sponsor children's siblings or other children in their households have sponsors? Are they registered?

Briana, we are very grateful for your desire to bless your sweet children's siblings and family! Regrettably, none of your sponsored children's siblings or children in their households are registered in the Compassion program. The decision about how many children that can be sponsored per family or household is made by the local program leadership. Because the program leadership knows the needs of the community better than we do, we let them decide if it is better to have one sponsored child from many families rather than multiple children from one family.

Please rest assured that your children's siblings and families will benefit indirectly by things they share and by participating in our partner church activities. You can also bless their families by sending extra stickers and other paper items with your letters to your kiddos. You may also bless the entire family by sending a family gift. You may give $25-$1,000 a year and designate it as a family gift if you would like :). The program director will consult with the family about what their greatest need is and help them to purchase their gift. Thank you so much for your heart for this ministry. God bless you and Happy New Year!

I see the trend here in regards to selecting a child than so children out of one household depending on that family's and community needs. I fully get too the logic the family and siblings benefit as a whole from the one child you sponsor and send happy gifts too. In due time I will ask my sponsored child about his sibling, however, I already know he has one younger sibling. Can I too confirm an age confirmation so I can add appropriate paper gifts to her as well? I feel certain she is not in the system but would love to have that confirmed please. Re: PH042200201. Also when I give my family gift in various amounts will I receive a picture and/or break down of what the minister and the family decided to purchase to best fit their needs? Thank you, Donna

Donna, your child does have a sister but she is not registered in the program. Regrettably, because she is not in the program, we do not have record of her age. When you send gifts of $60 or more, you will receive a photo along with your thank you letter letting you know what your child and his family were able to purchase. For gifts under $60, just a thank you letter will be sent.

I have a question. The very first letter that I received from Chantel, GH063000278 said that she has a brother and gave his name. I received a letter yesterday and it says she has no siblings. She is only 4 so she may not be able to explain what's going on. When I send letters, I've been including everyone that she listed as a family member in her first letter in my greetings and my closings. Can someone please check and let me know if she does have any siblings?

Hi Chantel! I'm so sorry for the confusion caused by not knowing whether Chantel has a brother or not :(. I have checked with Chantel's child profile, and, sadly, our records say she does not have any siblings living with her. However, we only have information on family members that are currently living with your child, so it is possible that she has a brother that was living with her. It's possible that her brother is now living with another family member, like grandparents or aunt and uncle, to alleviate some of the burden on Chantel's parents. This is quite common with families living in extreme poverty. You are also welcome to ask Chantel in your letter. Although she is quite young, her parents or tutor that helps with her letters will be able to answer your questions :).

I would like to sponsor a sibling of the child my husband is sponsoring. That child has mentioned that he has siblings. How can I find out if I can sponsor one of them?

Hi Lorna!
I would be happy to look for you. May I ask, is the child you are referring to, Maikol (EC011200415)? If not, please provide us your kiddos child ID. :)

Thanks for your reply, Lorna! Though Maikol does have siblings, none of them are in the program. This is pretty typical as Compassion projects usually register only one child in the program in order to help as many families in the community as possible. Regrettably, we aren't able to help you sponsor one of Maikol's siblings, but your support of Maikol does indirectly help his siblings and the rest of his family. Maikol brings home knowledge about sanitation and staying healthy. He receives educational support at the project, which he would be able to use to help his siblings with their school work as well. His parents are also able to participate in activities like parenting education, prayer support, counseling, cooking classes, and child violence/ protection awareness. If you would be interested in supporting another child who goes to the same project as Maikol and in turn help two different families, I would be happy to see if we have any more children available for sponsorship at his project.

My Sponsor child Jamilly BR051800240 has a brother named Rai and she told me that he attends the Compassion Project with her. Is Rai sponsored and, if so, does his Sponsor write to him?

Hi all,
My newest child, Andrea (PH086300207) has a sister who is 10 years old. Her name is Floralyn, according to the letter I received. I am just curious to know if she is sponsored and/or involved in the project. Andrea is 11 so they are very close in age.
Thanks,
Emily

Hi Emily,
I am so sorry, but Floralyn is not in the Compassion program at this time.
