I have set up an automatic Christmas gift to be taken out of my acct. yearly, but I don't know if the way it is set up will give the gift to my sponsored child. My account history doesn't designate my sponsored child. I want it to specifically go to him. How do I know who will receive my automatic yearly Christmas gift? And how do I cancel the auto payment for the Christmas gift if I find out it is a general gift, not to a specific child?

Hi,

All gifts designated as 'Christmas gifts' get pooled into a fund that is then used to buy christmas presents for all children in the program. If you wanted to be sure your gift is used just for your child, you could send it as a child gift instead.

When I wanted to cancel an automatic payment, I had to call compassion to do so. I couldn't find a way to do it through the website. It went very smoothly though. Here's there phone number:

Hi there! Let me explain how the Christmas Gift Program works here at
Compassion. We combine all Christmas gifts and distribute them equally among
all of the children in our programs. This means that with your donation, we
will purchase a gift for your child, gifts for children whose sponsors can't
give, and children who aren't yet sponsored. This way, no child is left out.
The amount for each child is decided based on how much has accumulated in the
Christmas Fund at the end of October. In previous years, it has been $15 to $20
per child. Your child will be told the gift is from you and will receive it at
a special Christmas celebration!
Please let us know if you would like your gift to be
designated as a child gift specifically for your child instead and we'd be happy to change this for you. In addition to the phone number above, you can also reach us via email at ciinfo@us.ci.org
