Automatically Assigning Child Without Knowledge

When my sponsor child was taken off my account because he moved I was not aware that Compassion automatically gives you a new child without myself personally picking the child out. I was not happy about the fact that they give you a child when you were not expecting that. Just for the future Compassion should NOT assign someone with a new child automatically if their original child has left the program. I was not happy to find that charge.

Paige, I'm just another sponsor, and understand your concern. You're never under any obligation to sponsor another child though. When your child leaves the program you get a letter asking you to sponsor the new child. They ask you to contact within 5 weeks if you do not want to sponsor this new child. If they don't hear from you then it's assumed that you do want to sponsor this child. It sounds like you may not have seen this correspondence?
For future reference, you can ask that Compassion note on your account that you want to choose any future children yourself and that you do not want them to send a new child for you to consider.

Paige, I am so sorry for the upset with a new child being added to your account after Erick left the program :(. With the majority of sponsors asking to sponsor another child immediately after one child leaves the program, we have a system in place that automatically sends out a packet with information on a new child to consider for sponsorship. Included in that packet is a request for the sponsor to let us know if they do not wish to sponsor the new child. The request states that if the sponsor does not contact Compassion within a certain length of time, the child will be automatically accepted onto their account. It does sound like you may not have received that packet of information, which I sincerely apologize for! As I can see on your account, we have already taken care of canceling the new sponsorship for you and requested a refund that is currently in process as well.
