Hi Patty! A beneficiary initiated letter simply means that this letter is not directly in response to a letter that you wrote. It is initiated by the child specifically. When you send your child a letter, the country office also prints out and sends stationary to the child to use on a reply letter. Beneficiary initiated letters can be written by the children if they choose to write a letter to you without having received one from you. Often that means they were excited to write to you again and didn't want to wait until their specific letter writing day :). The projects have this type of stationary on hand. It is sometimes also used when children write their final letters to sponsors when they graduate or in response to an inquiry we have sent to the country office asking for a letter from the child.

Wow! Thank you for the quick response Sarah! Just received one of these yesterday and our sponsor child Julien sent us 2 photos--- one of himself and another of his entire family! What a bonus! We have never seen his father or younger sister before.
The letter thanked us for our support, how special it made him feel and how joyful his family was too and  that he wanted us to see his family.  I am guessing it's because we send him a  load of photos of us and our families all the time. :-))) Bless them Lord!  Julien, who is only turning 8 this year is generally not too responsive or expressive in his letters to us but this breakthrough is just making my heart jump with joy.
