I'm sure a staff member will answer shortly, but this thread will probably answer your questions!

Hi Joel! Your sponsored child starts benefiting from your sponsorship as soon as you have made the decision to sponsor and your account is set up. Jennifer gave you a link to a thread on this forum talking about the benefits that unsponsored children receive. Compassion is able to extend all the benefits of the program to unsponsored children through our fund for unsponsored children. Once the child has been selected for sponsorship, your donations begin being put toward his or her support and Compassion is able to use the money from the fund to benefit another child waiting for sponsorship. The only benefit unsponsored children do not receive is receiving letters from their sponsors. Letters from you will be one of the most significant parts of your child's time in the program. Something about having someone far away whom they know believes in them and encourages them to keep striving is super powerful in these children's lives. That's why the letters are so important! I'd encourage you to give your child that added benefit and write a letter to him or her as soon as your sponsorship is set up :)!

From what I understand, the monthly $38 equally benefit all children registered at this particular project our sponsored child belongs to. What goes directly to our sponsored child is additional giving (birthday and family money gifts), letters, and packages with gift (stickers, etc).
