Hello! My husband and I bought a birthday gift for our sponsored child a while back and he had his birthday Oct. 3rd. When will we receive notice of what was bought for him with the money for his birthday? Last time they gave him a goat with the money.

Also, is there any way to know how old the photo of the child is? We started sponsoring 17 months ago and I know they don't update except every 2 years but does the timer start with sponsorship or date the photo was taken?

Good morning Erin,

I am so sorry for the delay in getting back with you! I see that we last updated Theoneste's photo on April 1st, 2016 so you should expect to get a new photo around April 2018.

In addition, thank you so much for blessing this sweet child with a gift for his birthday! I see that you actually gave this gift on 9/17 so it will likely be a few months before you hear back about this gift. It can take about 2-3 months to actually deliver a gift to the child because the local Compassion staff will meet with the family when the gift is delivered to help them decide how the money should be spent and guide them in using the money wisely. They will decide together what items to purchase and then the staff will go out and buy the gifts. With that said, it is possible that your gift arrived just a tad late, but please know that these kiddos are never expecting anything and will just feel so blessed to be thought of!  Please know that if you do not receive a letter with what items were purchased within 6 months of giving the gift, we will be more than happy to send a request to the child's center to see what was purchased. However, we do hope that you will hear back soon! :)
