We sponsor a boy in Burkina Faso and were concerned last weekend when we read about the attack in that area. Is there unrest in the area? We want to check on Lassane and are wondering where he lives in relation to the area of the attack. Thanks!

Hi Kelli! I can completely understand how concerned you have been for Lassane. My own little boy, Ibrahim, lives in Burkina Faso, and I was brokenhearted about Friday's events in Ouagadougou and for the many families who have lost someone. I have good news for you though. No children in Compassion's program were affected by the attack. I do encourage you to keep praying for Lassane and for his country as a whole.

I am so glad to read that our children are ok! We sponsor a boy named Ibrahim in Burkina Faso. Is that a common name or are some children sponsored by more than one family?

Michele, I am a sponsor too, but I know that each child only has one sponsor. It may be that he has a popular name. Blessings and thank you for making a difference in your boy's life!

Michele, yes, Ibrahim is just a very common name in Africa. :)
