Hello,

I have a couple of questions. I have a friend who happens to live in the same country as the child I sponsor. First I was wondering if I could send a letter written by my friend to my child in her language. Second, would it be possible for my friend to visit my child for me some day? I sponsor a little girl in Bangladesh, and am also friends with a young lady who lives there. My friend has succeeded in getting a good education and I believe that she could be a very positive role model for my little girl, to show her that women can succeed in her country if they work hard and gain an education. I am still a very new sponsor, so obviously this is something that would happen far down the road, but we have been discussing this possiblility and I would like to know if it would be permissible.  Thanks,

James

Hello James! I hope you have enjoyed the first month of supporting Pinky :). These are both excellent questions and I am happy to help you.

In regards to letters for your girl, you're certainly welcome to write to Pinky in her language. Please keep in mind that all letters must first filter through our office in Colorado Springs and will go through the translation process when it reaches your child's country. This is to ensure it is written in the correct dialect that your child can understand. Please write your sponsor number, child's name, and child's reference number on anything that you send so it can be processed correctly.

It's so neat that you have a good friend that lives in Bangladesh! It is very clear that you have a heart for helping Pinky believe in herself and reach her dreams and we are so grateful for your care and concern for her well being. Not only is your friend welcome to visit Pinky, but if you ever go to Bangladesh to see your friend and want to visit Pinky while your there, we are happy to set this up for you! If you or your friend are planning a personal trip to your child’s country and wish to visit your child, it is important for you both to contact Compassion first. We want your visit to be as enjoyable as possible and will do everything we can to make the day an experience of a lifetime.  When you or your friend visit your child, a Compassion worker or representative will always be present. This is mainly for translation, but also for safety reasons. You will also be asked to pay for any expenses involved.  Complete details are on our website, and we invite you to fill out the necessary form at http://www.compassion.com/get-involved/trips-visits.htm. We must have at least eight weeks’ notice to set up a visit.

Thank you so much Emily.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my first month of sponsorship. I love Compassion and all that it stands for, as well as all the wonderful employees and sponsors who have been so helpful. Most of all, I love Pinky.  I would most definately like to visit her some day if God is willing, but it is nice to know that my friend will be able to bring her my love in the mean time.

I do have another question if you don't mind.  I noticed that some sponsors have asked about having a friend deliver items to the main office for the country and have them delivered to their child.  I would like to have my friend purchase some things to have delivered to Pinky some time if that would be possible.  How would we go about doing this?

Thanks again for everything.  All of you are always so helpful, friendly and prompt to respond.  You certainly live up to the name of this organization

Hi again James! Thank you so much for all of your encouraging words, we appreciate it so much! We are so blessed by sponsor's like you who give so selflessly to these precious kiddos and are happy to answer any questions you have.

Your friend is certainly welcome to drop items off at our office in Bangladesh for Pinky. I have sent you an email with instructions on how to do so as well as a link to our website that has gift ideas for items to give to your child :).
