I would love to send one, but if it is only scanned the windows wouldn't open.

Hi Lauren! A paper advent calendar is a great idea, but regrettably we are not able to physically send advent calendars to our sponsored kids. Under the new guidelines, only the following items will be physically delivered to our kids, up to a maximum of six sheets.
  • Stickers (flat, not puffy or foam)
  • Bookmarks
  • Musical greeting cards
I'm sorry we're not able to send those, but thanks so much for thinking about your sponsored child. :)

Hi Lauren, I think the advent calendar is a great idea, but as Adam says, they do not seem to qualify under the new guidelines. I have sent advent calendars in the past; they even had the Bible verse references in Spanish! It seemed like a great thing to help a child focus on the meaning of Christmas.

Perhaps Compassion would consider allowing them, as I have read that they also allow pop-up cards in addition to musical cards. But I would find out before I tried sending an advent calendar.

I have also a question regarding the new letter guidelines: My child's birthday is coming up and I'd like to send a card and stickers. Will they send both things together or will my child receive these things apart from each other since they are scanning the card and send the stickers physically? Thank so much!

Lea, in your case, we will scan the card and mail it with the stickers so that your child will receive both at the same time and the card will be translated.

Hi Lauren! Regrettably, as others have pointed out, an advent calendar would not be able to be physically mailed. The only items that are physically mailed are bookmarks, stickers, musical cards, and pop-up cards will be scanned. When we say pop-up cards, we mean something like the photo I have included below. They are cards that fold flat but pop up when opened.

Did you mean - and pop up cards will NOT be scanned?

Hi Kris! Yes, I'm so sorry for the confusion. Musical cards and pop-up cards will be scanned first, if possible, so they can be translated. Then, they will be physically sent to your kiddos.
