Hi, I wanted to send one of those paper school folders with the pockets and holes (it can fit in a 3-ring binder). It doesn't have metal on it and it's totally flat (<1/4" thick). I'm pretty sure I read of someone who sent them and they went through just fine, but I want to be sure before sending it or mentioning it in the letter. Thanks!

Hi Emma! Yes, you can send paper folders to your child. Please make sure that the folders are under 8 1/2" by 11". If it is slightly larger, you might trim it down to make sure it fits the size guideline. Some sponsors have made themed  "lap books" for their sponsored child using folders. Here is an example on our Second Friday Letter Writing Club on Pinterest. You can also just search "lab book" on Google to find other examples and instructions.

My folders measure 9 1/4" x 11 1/2" with no way to trim it properly. Would that really be too large?

Hello Emma! Regrettably, because of strict mailing and customs regulations in the various countries we work in; we cannot send items that exceed these size limits :(. I am so sorry for this inconvenience. I know that is would not be "ideal," but you might consider folding it in half so that it fits the guidelines if you do not think you can trim it down at all.

OK, I'll look for something that fits those guidelines today. Good to know the dimension requirements by heart. Thanks so much for your super speedy replies!
