With the app, it is so easy to send a letter, card or picture. But I think I may be tempted to write too often. Is it possible to write too much?

I guess it depends on your child! I try to limit myself to 1-2 letters a month since mail day is typically once a month at the centers. But if your child loves a pile of letters each mail day, then I guess you can't write too many!

I agree. I try between 1-2... usually it’s about 2 and then if they have a birthday coming up it may be 3! The littles i may send some extra colouring sheets since they may not get some for another month or 2!

We just sponsored our child so, since we aren’t hearing anything I think I fill the silence with cards and pictures from here

I got into the Correspondent program to write to children who I do not directly sponsor partially to avoid overwhelming any one child with so many letters. It allows me to write as much as I want and to bless many children instead of overwhelming One (or even the small handful we can afford to sponsor).  It also makes for a few more letters coming back and helps the wait for letters be easier.

Hi Kecia! Welcome to the Compassion family! Thank you so much for taking several opportunities to write to your new sponsored child, Dereck, this month. We can tell you are excited  to get to know him :). Compassion suggests writing to the children about once a month because we do want the children to receive consistent letters from the sponsors, but we also don't want to overwhelm both the translators or the children. The children do reply to your letters, and it can cause them to feel a little overwhelmed when they receive a huge pile of letters every month from their sponsor that they need to reply to. That being said, I think Derek will be very happy to receive the letters that you have sent him this month, and I am so happy to hear that you have been enjoying the app :)! I know you mentioned it's been a little silent in the way of letters coming back to you. Dereck will be writing to you, and he probably has found out that you have sponsored him now. It can take up to four months to receive the first letter from your child after you begin the sponsorship, but I think that will be a very welcome first letter from Dereck when it does arrive!
