I would like to send an embroidered bookmark to my child. I know that sending cloth is not allowed, but what if I embroidered on stiff paper instead? Would that go through? I don't want to send it if it's not allowed.

Hi Laura, I am sorry; we cannot guarantee that this will go through because of the thread.

Hi Laura:
I have sent items that I wasn't quite sure of, but Compassion has always contacted me and explained why it was denied. They always ask "Do you want the item to be returned to you or would you like to donated it?" It is my understanding that all the donated items are given to children at Christmas time to various projects. But, as Laura stated, it can't be guaranteed that it will be approved. If it isn't approved.....your items will still be given to a child! (unless the policy has been changed).

Thank you so much for your answers Haley and Mary. I think I will go ahead and send the bookmark, and if it it doesn't go through than that's okay.

Laura: I sometimes make a thin photo book with construction paper and use a 3 hole puncher to do the holes. Then, I run twine and tie knots on the side. I have done several of these and they haven't come back. But....I also think that different countries have different custom requirements also. Either way, some child will get your gift. Good Luck!
