I received a letter from Compassion saying that since my old credit card expired, they took the liberty of "automatically updating" my new credit card information to continue payments. I am extremely uncomfortable with the fact that they were able to get my new credit card number without asking me directly.
For this reason, I will not be using Compassion anymore and need to cancel my sponsorship as soon as possible. This situation does not rest well with me and I need to know that my information is more protected than this. My sponsor number is 06804971.

Sarah,

I sincerely apologize for this letter and that it made you feel so uncomfortable. We honestly do not have your new credit card number (if it changed). Many companies have a secure software that connects with banks to legally update credit card expiration dates on subscriptions. As you can imagine this is a huge challenge, especially for non-profits like Compassion. We lose thousands of supporters and donations every month just due to credit card expiration. That said, I understand that this has made you uncomfortable and we certainly do not want to do this. You are in control of your donations and are able to stop at any time by letting us know as you have done here. I have made your child available for another sponsor as you requested.
