I am so so sorry to say this but I need to cancel my sponsorship. I'm a college student with no income so I am quickly running out of money :(

Rachel, I definitely understand that it can be tough to support yourself as a college student these days. We can definitely help you with whatever you need to do on your account. I think I found your account, but want to make sure. Are you sponsoring Obama in Rwanda?

It sounds like you definitely have the heart if not the funds. We do have a volunteer program in which you would write to a child whose sponsor is unable to send the encouraging letters. There would be no financial commitment - just the commitment to write at least three letters each year. Please let me know if you would be interested in this option.

Susan, I am so sorry, I was having trouble logging into my account and finding this page and I just now found it. Yes, I am sponsoring Obama in Rwanda and I do need to cancel it. I just realized my account got charged yesterday... is there any way I could get a refund for that? I feel so terrible for asking for this but there are some things I need to pay for but don't really have the money.

I am interested in doing that, thank you for informing me of this option!

Hi Rachel,
I am so sorry that you need to cancel your sponsorship of Obama, but we completely understand! I have removed him from your account today and I have also placed a request to get that last donation refunded to you. This will take just a couple days.

Also, we are so thankful to hear that you are interested in writing to a child in need! Do you have any preference on age, gender or country? We will add your request to our wait list and pair you with a child as soon as one with your preferences becomes available. :)

Thank you so much for your help Shannon!

I do not really have a preference, I can do whatever you're in need of!

Caroline, I am so sorry that you are having to make the difficult decision to give up your sponsored child due to trouble with finances :(. I do completely understand though and have taken care of canceling your sponsorship for you this morning.
