Now that 10% is being deducted from the gifts we send to our children, I think it would be nice if the gift options would change to reflect this.  I wanted to send some of my kids a gift today, then realized I couldn't because the amounts I want to send are no longer represented.  I'll have to wait until monday to call the requests in.

Ditto!  I want them to get 60 dollars not $54...   I understand the need for the 10% rule, but I dislike it.  It should to send a gift of 60 dollars send x amount.  It's very deceiving the way it is now.

I don't think it's deceiving at all, but I do wish the fee was tacked on to the gift, instead of subtracted from it.

I agree as far as being consistent with amounts go -- if I send the same amount I have in the past, it will end up being less.  However, one thing to remember is that these gifts are being given in foreign currencies, and the exchange rates are varying all the time.  So if we give a nice round number like $50, one time it will be worth 1350 units of currency X, and another time it might be 1200!

Hi Jamie! Thank you so much for your feedback and idea regarding the gift amounts available online.  We completely understand your desire to send a full $60 to your children and are so grateful for your giving heart :)! Not every amount sponsors wish to give as a gift is currently available online. While no change is currently planned for the online gift options, I will absolutely pass your feedback on! I know it can be a little more inconvenient to make a call during a weekday, but you can always email us at socialmedia@compassion.com to give a gift amount that is not available online. If we have the credit card on file that you would like to use for the gift, we are able to process it for you via email. We cannot; however, take new card information over an email for your safety.

One thing to note is that, with currency change, your child won't see the nice round number of $60 anyways.  I have sent gifts of things like $25 or $75 before the 10% came about and would get thanked for gifts of 213.41 because in their currency, that was what it was.
