There is no way to turn off auto pay on your website. This makes me feel like your company is very shady. Plus my last letter wasn't even written by my child it was written by a child worker. That is also shady. I would like to cancel both sponsorships, my sponsor number is 02598580. Please take care of this before the next auto payment is taken out. Have a nice day.

I'm not staff but they'll help you cancel on Monday when they are working.

Just thought I'd mention that letter writing is not the norm in many countries and it's very common to have the workers help the kids write or write for them until they are old enough to feel comfortable doing so themselves.. usually but not always around age 10.  (I write to almost 60 kids with Compassion now and if you count in ones I've written to in the past the number is around 100 and MOST of them have started writing on their own around that mark).  I know it's not shady though since I've had friends go and meet my kids and send me dozens of photos of them etc :)  Also, I've had several kids graduate the program and because of Compassion they had the chance to go to university and complete it and they have now found me on facebook and told me privately just how huge a difference COmpassion amde for them.   They just need some extra help with the writing that's all.  And a few it is longer than age 10 because they had to starts school late (some couldn't afford unifroms etc until Compassion helped and some had to help support the family by working and often the parents are illiterate and can't teach them, so they don't learn to write until late, even into their teens. Compassion registers kids up to age 10 (and they can stay til age 22) so the later registers might be totally illiterate even at age 9 for example and take awhile to catch up.

As for the autopay thing if you do decide to stay sponsoring, COmpassion would be happy to change that for you if you send and email to but of course ultimately it's up to you and you definitely have to feel comfortable in who you give to.  Like I said, not staff here just a sponsor myself but I do have a lot of experience with many different kids so wanted to point out it's the norm for them to not write on their own :)

Danielle, I sincerely apologize for the frustration and that you were not able to find what you needed on our website. Please know that it was certainly not our intention to limit your options or be shady. I will pass along your feedback that the ability to turn off the autopay should be an option on our website. Also, I apologize that your child's last letter seemed shady to you. As Teresa mentioned, sometimes if a child is not old enough or confident enough to write a letter on their own, a center worker may dictate the letter for them. That said, the child must be present and contribute both thoughts and drawings to the letter. It looks like he did draw a pretty picture for you of mountains and trees and a house. All that said, it really sounds like you had simply decided to stop sponsoring so I have honored your request.  I made both of your children available for other sponsors as of today. Please let us know if you have any further feedback for our ministry or if there is any way that I can further assist you.
