We chose a child at an event, money was deducted from my account, couldn’t get a child number to register online. Found out today our child has already been sponsored! My daughter gave her 13th birthday party celebration and gifts in order to sponsor a child she felt something towards. Christina from Compassion gave me the information and said another 13 year old boy was being held for us to sponsor and that we needed to let her know soon if we wanted to go ahead but oddly, she disallowed any responses to the chat and now I have no way of moving in any direction on a sponsorship. We have already been drafted and have no way to direct these funds, no idea where the funds went, no idea who the new child is, no way to redirect this train wreck. We want to help a child but it just shouldn’t be this poorly managed. Please help us get this solved quickly.

Flora, I sincerely apologize for our errors and the way that your relationship with us has been started. This certainly is not the way that new sponsorships are supposed to go. :(

We are very sorry for closing this other conversation so that you couldn't reply. We will be sure to keep conversations like this open in the future.

Also, we are very sorry that they child you had originally sponsored was sponsored by someone else. I researched a little further what happened with the child you had originally sponsored and found that someone in the Netherlands had actually sponsored Stephane back in December. An error occurred when we transferred the sponsorship to our office in the Netherlands. We realized our error in early February and thought we had pulled Stephane's child packet from the Compassion Experience event you were at. Regrettably, somehow you were able to sponsor Stephane anyway. :( I am so sorry for this error and for the confusion that it caused. We linked Kevin in Stephane's place and your original $38 went towards Kevin's support (and $7 for the HIV/AIDS Response Fund).  However, please let us know if you would like to sponsor Kevin or a different child or if you would just like this money returned to you. We are more than happy to accommodate your wishes but just need to know what you are wanting at this point.

We would like to sponsor Kevin. How do we get his packet and set up an account for him?

Flora, thank you so much for taking Kevin to heart and choosing to sponsor him. I have noted this on your account. Kevin's packet is on its way to you in the mail. I trust you will receive it in the coming ten days.
