World Vision has the child's letter writer tell sponsors what their child and family money gifts purchased for them. I think it would be a nice gesture on Compassions part if you would also do that for your sponsors. I have given several money gifts, both to my sponsored child and her family, and I have no idea how that money was spent. What is your policy on this?

It can take up to 6 months but yes they tell the sponsor what was bought provided the amount was over $20 and over $60 you get a photograph too.  (World Vision you need to send a minimum of $100 and can't send less so you'd always get these things)

Staff can confirm with me on the $20 thing, I believe under $20 they'll still send a thank-you letter to acknowledge they got it but it isn't always recorded everything WHAT they got.  That said... even with gifts of less (I"ve sent a lot of little ones over the years) my kids have always just told me waht it was and I've had several photos for smaller gifts than the required $60 too.

The odd times letters get stuck in translation or lost on the way so if you don't hear in 6 months you can ask Compassion and they'll check into it and get that thank-you for you pretty quickly afterwards (within 4-8 weeks)

Hi Marsha!
As Teresa mentioned, even gifts of $20 or less will be mentioned in your next child's letter. If you send a gift of $21 to $59, your child will acknowledge the gift in a special gift thank you letter with an itemized list of what was purchased. All gifts given of $60 or more will be acknowledged by your child in a special gift thank you letter, and a photo of the child orfamily with the purchased gift(s) will be included. :)
