I just signed up to be a correspondent for up to two children, any age/country/etc. I was wondering when I'll be assigned a child, and will I be notified by mail, email, or both? Thank you! I also think it's so wonderful that the correspondent program exists!

Hi Kristin,

Thank you so much for making the decision to bless a couple kiddos with letters! Please know when we link a kiddo to your account, you will be notified via mail, not via email. However, if you have create an online account at Compassion.com, you can go in there and check to see if you have any kiddos linked to your account. :)

Thank you so much! Will they be added to the online account as soon as they’re added, and then by mail? I ask because I’m about to move. 3 times in the next few months, haha! But I’ll keep my mailing address the same for the next couple months and then notify compassion as soon as it changes :)

Yes! I see a new correspondent on my account long before I get physical mail about them.  VERY rarely you'll get a letter from a child who never showed up on your account. That might be an indication you have a "Hidden" correspondent that was not correctly attached to your account.  In which case you let the social media ladies here know and they look into the child ID to either make it visible on your account or find out if the letter was misdirected.

Hey Kristin,
As Sarah said, you will definitely see your child online before receiving the mailing on them, so that may be a good option if you won't be able to receive mail right away for a bit. :)

Fantastic! I can have mail forwarded in the meantime but I don’t want to accidentally miss that I have a child to write to! This answers my question perfectly, thank you. How long does it usually take to march a correspondent sponsor with a child?

Hi Kristin,
It depends on how specific your request is. Since you said you would take any kiddo in need of a writer, we should be able to link you with a kiddo within about 2 weeks. :)
