My husband and kids and I visited one of the Compassion Experience trucks this past weekend. It was phenomenal! It really opened my kids eyes to the real life struggles that these kids face every day. Our kids are 11, 9, 5 and 4. Hubby & I have been on missions trips and my oldest daughter can't wait to go on her first missions trip.
We really have a heart for Africa as we have friends who run a children's home in Nairobi. We hope to be able to visit again soon and would like to be able to arrange a visit with the child we sponsor. I have been searching endlessly trying to decipher what centers would be in or near Nairobi and cannot come up with any concrete answers. I called and spoke with a Compassion rep and she told me to look in the community section of the child's info...not all of the children had a "community" section to view.
Could someone please let me know the child development center names that are in or near Nairobi so that my family can choose a child to sponsor? Thank you SO much!

Blessings!!!

There used to be maps of the countries on Flickr, but they were removed recently.  A few people saved a few of the maps.  I do have the map of the country that someone gave me in the fb group with the centers on it.  Would that be close enough for you?  I can attach it on here.  I have been trying to figure out which centers are in the Kenya slums, and can't for the life of me figure it out.

Oh sorry, I just realized you want the names not the numbers.  You have probably already seen the map with the numbers then.  That is all that I know of.

I guess it's the bottom middle box of project numbers.  I am used to going by project numbers, not names, as I can't remember them :)

Hi Sarah! I'm so glad Debbie was able to help answer your question over the weekend. Thank you so much for visiting the Compassion Experience with your family and for looking into sponsoring a child in Nairobi!  What stories did you hear at the Experience? The best way to find a child to sponsor in Nairobi is actually with the project number instead of the name. If you are choosing a child to sponsor on our website, there is an advanced search link in the search box that you can click on, bringing up the option to search for children by project ID. Be sure to put "KE" in front of every number. With the photo above having been last updated in 2009, some of the information is a little outdated. The projects that are closest to or directly in Nairobi currently are: KE912, KE916, KE439, KE756, KE727, KE383, KE463, KE222, KE528, KE909, KE320, KE373, KE715, KE407, KE370, KE301, KE620, KE754, KE903, and KE382. We do update the children available online on a weekly basis. If you don't find a child from these centers right away, one may show up in the future. I would also be happy to look for an available child in my system who is not on the website if you don't find any. Let me know if we can help you further :)!

We thought the Compassion Experience was amazing...we heard Julian and Rubens stories. It made it very real for my kids.

Between your info and the maps Debbie posted, I'm sure we'll be able to find the perfect child to sponsor! We will look online once the kiddos are home from school. I will definitely get in touch if we have any issues, thank you SO much!

Have a blessed day!!!

I sincerely thank people that are doing this
Imagine being born in  a situation of uncertainty. Your parents are killed in conflict and you are 5 or even younger.God knows the struggles children go through. You are therefore the representative of God on earth if you are helping these children
Keep doing this and you wont regret
God bless compassion ,God bless the missioners.

Hello Thomas,
Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement! We do not currently work in Machakos county, as our closest center is about 15 miles from there. We do partner with local churches. Are you part of a church that may be interested in partnering with Compassion? If so, please email us at socialmedia@compassion.com and we can talk with you more about this process. Thank you so much!
