Child Photo Access

So I noticed the Compassion App has a lovely download photo feature but unfortunately once an updated photo takes place the older one is no longer accessible. Is there a way to place a link of it's own like letter writing, my account, etc has where these photos could be housed and downloaded (like a Photos of My Child link). ESPECIALLY for those that are ONLY using the computer, not everyone has access to an android, etc phone and vice versa. I realized on my account in the computer I couldn't download a child's photo in decent quality (I had to right click and save the small shown one) however I could download the photo from the app. Why not integrate a spot for all uploaded sponsored children photos for easy access to save or show both on the app and on the computer? :) This will allow sponsors to access photos, especially new ones as soon as they become available.

Hi Ces! These are wonderful ideas, and you make a very good point! We will be going through some very exciting system changes over the next couple of months, and I will give your feedback to the appropriate team. Having children's previous pictures available and also the ability to download high resolution pictures in the future is a possibility :). We really appreciate your love and heart for the children! Have a blessed day :).

Thanks for reading it and passing it on. Looking forward to all of the great things Compassion will achieve and the changes that will foster growth through the years! Thanks for just giving sponsors the opportunity to be heard :)

Hi Ces! I just wanted to follow up with you to let you know that we are working on re-building and updating the app right now and are taking your idea into consideration still. Thanks again for sharing!

I also wanted to reply to this if possible! I have noticed the same problems -- the app allows me to download my child's current photo with ease, but none of the past ones. It would be so excellent to have the past photos on there as well so I can show people from my phone how much my child has grown. Additionally, there is no easy way (or any way?) to download a good quality photo if you are using a desktop and not the app. The one under "my sponsorships" on the website is very small and there seems to be no way to make it a nice high quality photo saved to my computer. I always end up emailing the Compassion team to just ask for the high quality photo to be sent to me. So I agree with Ces's suggestions and have thought the exact same! A "photos of my child" tab would be incredible on the app and on the website as a place to view multiple high-resolution photos.

Emily, thanks so much for your input, as well! This is definitely a great idea, and it's still under consideration by our web team. Thank you so much!

Hi Sierra - Thanks! I emailed the compassion team about this earlier, but is there any way you can email me (to the email on my account) the most recent photo of my latest sponsored child, from Mexico? Her picture updated yesterday on the website in low-quality and has not yet updated on the app. I'd love to see the high quality version! Thanks so much.

Also, I've mentioned and suggested this in the past and realize it would be a huge undertaking, but I'd love to recommend videos again, especially for sponsors who have sponsored their children for many years. The ability to actually see my child move and talk would be SUCH a gift. Even in the videos weren't translated, just seeing my child would be amazing (and for my children who speak Spanish, I speak well enough to understand a few basics!). Is this something Compassion has ever considered?

Finally, I thought of an idea for my own letters last night. In my next letters, I am going to send a photo of myself holding a picture of my sponsored child as well as a little handwritten note just to them. I thought aside from just receiving a letter, it might be extra special for the child to see me holding their picture and writing to them directly, with my face attached. Maybe sometime when the photos are being taken of the children, they could also include a photo of the child with a picture they have drawn just for us, or the photos/letters we have sent? Again, I know that would be an enormous amount of work, but I wanted to suggest it if possible at all. Thanks again!

Hi Emily! Sure thing. I would be happy to send you that photo via email, but I want to make sure we're talking about the right child - are you wanting Ani's updated photo?

In regards to videos, that is something that Compassion has even implemented in the past; however, we did not have the space to store those videos, and is something that we are discontinuing. I agree that it would be so sweet to be able to see your sponsored child in action via a video; sadly, this is just something we cannot do at this time.

I think that it's a great idea for you to send a photo of your face with your sponsored child's in your next letter to them! What a sweet idea! That isn't something we could necessarily implement as a rule for child photo updates, though. Those days are hectic enough taking the photos, getting them developed, etc. that it would be too much to ask for the child to also bring something extra along. There are some photo updates in which a child will hold a drawing or accessory... I've even seen photos of the child holding an "I love you, sponsor" sign, which was so sweet! That's the exception, though, and not the rule.

Thank you very much for your heart for these children, and your desire to have the sponsorship experience improved, too! Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Yes, that is the sponsored child - I just wasn’t sure if I should share her name to keep it safe. Thanks!

Thanks for thinking of that! First names are fine to share online. :) But it's better to be safe than sorry! I've sent that photo to your email address on file.
