Previously, I posted that I was not informed until after the fact that my child (after 14 years) was released from the program.  I think that Compassion should come up with a better process for releasing these young adults and letting their sponsors know.  So several weeks after I had gotten a voicemail about the release; yesterday I received a letter from my sponsored child that states in big bold letters at the top: Final Letter to my sponsor.  This letter was written by my child back in May, 2017.  So my sponsored child knew before I did that she was to be released from the program.  It would seem that both sides should have been notified in May of this release.  This is not a good ending.

Alyssa, we greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. We will certainly take your feedback into consideration regarding when children leave our program and easing the transition. I also want to apologize for the confusion. In many places other than in the US, the day is listed first and the month second. This means that while on your child's last letter the date was listed 5/08/2017, it was actually written on August 5 and delivered August 22.

I came on boArd to rave about the great communication and inclusion so far. A few years ago I left a different program because they never let me know my child was gone and I was still sending gifts to her and her family. I didn't expect thanks but just to know about their lives if possible. No situation is perfect but so far so good. Hope you feel better about it now
