I just received a letter informing me that my child (BR4540416) has been removed by her guardians from the Compassion Program.  I am so worried for her.  She was orphaned last year and has been passed from family member to family member.  Her letters indicated the situation had gotten very bad.  Her last letter to me ended this way "I ask that you pray for me because not having a mother is awful.  My grandmother passed away in October and I'm still shaken with everything that has happened.  I hope to hear from you because right now you're the person I admire the most.  Tight hug (child's name).  My heart is breaking, and given her age and situation I am very concerned she is being exploited.  I would like to hear something from her Center to see if they have more information on her situation.  Can this be done?  My sponsor number is 02089906.  Thanks in advance! Kristen

KEK, I am deeply sorry to hear that your sweet girl, Dayane, is no longer able to attend the Compassion program because her family is no longer interested. Her family situation is indeed heartbreaking :(. Please know that your sponsorship made a significant difference in Dayane’s life, and even though she is no longer in the program, the love you have shown will continue to have a great impact in her life. The only information we received is that she will be staying with a new caregiver, but she will remain in the same area. Sadly, once a child is no longer in the Compassion program, we are unable to intervene in their lives. However, if Dayane continues to attend church, she will continue to receive the love and support of her church family.

Dayane said that her hope for the future is to raise a family of her own someday. We encourage you to write Dayane a final letter to say goodbye. I’m sure that she would absolutely love hearing from you one last time and to know you will continue to pray for her. If you do choose to write a final letter, please write “Final Letter” across the top of the correspondence, along with your child's name and child's number. You may send your final letter to Compassion's address below:
Attn Correspondence Dept
Compassion International
Colorado Springs, CO 80997-0004
If you would like, you may also send a final gift to bless her. You may send any amount between $10 and $100, but there is certainly no obligation or expectation. We cannot express how thankful we are for the investment you made in Dayane’s life. It is such a blessing to have you as part of Compassion’s ministry to children around the world as we partner to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Philippians 1:6 says "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." That is our prayer and hope for Dayane, and we encourage you to continue praying for Dayane’s family situation and future. God bless you!
