I was notified months ago that “today” was my child’s birthday, when it in fact is actually today (June 13th). I sent a $100 gift and got no indication of what that went towards especially since it actually wasn’t his birthday. I got multiple notifications that it was his birthday “today” since then. Today, I got another notification that he turns 6 today, but he was born in 2011. I would like to know what the issue is and where my money is actually going. I did send a complaint back then, but never got a response to that either. Completely unacceptable.

I have had the "didn't give me the correct age" problem on my app for one of my kids and was told they were working on tracking it down. But I have not had it telling me the birthday is TODAY when it is not -- though it does have "Your child's birthday is a month away" reminders that I find very useful for writing a letter (though I almost wish they gave us two month reminders).  Online I believe they give you two month reminders for sponsored kids.

Once you send a birthday gift, it can take 6 months to receive the thank you and picture. If you do not get it in that time, the social media ladies will send a request to shake it out.  I recently got a letter from my girl in Uganda that I had to request -- but i got the letter and picture after the request happened and I am very happy with it. And I guess in a very rural area like this maybe the actual acquiring takes longer than I would imagine?

Steph, I sincerely apologize for the confusion, frustration, and the skepticism this has caused for you. We have regrettably been having some issues with our mobile app giving an incorrect birthday for the children. If you were to login on a computer, you would probably see the correct birthday because it is literally just on the app. We are working very hard to correct this issue so that the app shows correct information and notifications. 

Are you sponsoring Nando in Indonesia? If so, it looks like his birthday is in fact on June 13 and you sent a $100 gift in April. Because it does take some time for gifts to be wired and for letters to be written and processed, thank you letters and photos arrive within six months of when the gift was given. It looks like your gift was delivered June 1 and Nando is working on the thank you letter as we speak. You can expect this letter sometime before October. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity towards Nando!
