I just received the final letter from my sponsored child and I am trying to find out if I can help her further. I did see there is a possibility of helping her until she reaches age 22. How can I find out if she qualifies for this? I was in chat about this and the chat stopped. My husband and I adopted our granddaughter just before we started sponsorship, so this girl has a special place in our hearts.

Hello Michelle! I sincerely apologize for the chat disconnecting while you were speaking with a representative regarding this question! It's wonderful to hear when sponsors have an extra special bond with their children, and I know that bond makes it much more difficult to say goodbye as well. Though children are able to remain in the program until they turn 22 years old, not every child will choose to stay that long. I actually do see that Maria has now graduated from Compassion's program, which means that she will not continue until she is 22 years old. Once your child graduates the program, there isn't a way to support her through Compassion's program anymore. You are able to send both a final letter and a graduation gift to Maria, which may certainly provide her with encouragement as she begins a new chapter of her life. You are absolutely welcome to send a graduation gift to Maria between $10 and $2000 to help her as she transitions away from Compassion's program and into whatever she decides to do now. You may write one final letter to her as well. Please send us a physical letter and include your sponsor number, 01132343, and her child number, HO024200172 as well as the words "Final Letter" at the top of the stationery. Please send the letter to Compassion's address below: Compassion International
