children switched with no advance info sent

We were sponsoring two children we had selected based on our grandchildren's gender and birthdays. 
First our billing showed us that Jason Manuel Carrillo Mendoza, Nicaraqua was no longer our sponsored child but that Gloria Asiteni Adebuga, Uganda, is now our sponsored child. Souberetou, our little girl in Togo has not sent us an updated photo since we began sponsoring her in 2018.
We have sent Christmas gifts to our original children but are now uncertain if they received them. 
We are concerned about our donations reaching the children we signed up to sponsor.
It seems like poor business practice to be assigned children not selected and then not informed about any changes. 
What's the deal? Are our donations being properly distributed and how do we know our sponsored children have received them? 
We don't want to withdraw our support but are now questioning the business handling by Compassion, how our donations are being used and to whom they are going.

Hello Kitty! I am so sorry for the errors with your sponsorship. I can hear that you really care about your sponsored children and you want to minister to them through the sponsorship. You mentioned a few issues that have made you feel uncertain about how your donations are being used. I am sincerely sorry about this.

1) I show that you are still sponsoring Jason on an account in Eric Larsen's name, but Souberetou is sponsored on an account in your name. Is that correct, or should both sponsorships be on your account? 

2) From what I can see, Gloria was added to your account from an appeal for unsponsored children we received which included a reply that you would like to sponsor her. If that was not the case, I am really sorry for our error. Please let me know if that was a mistake or if she was meant to be sponsored by Eric. I can definitely cancel the sponsorship and refund the donations that went to Gloria. 

3) Sadly, we currently only have the capability to update photos of the children every two years. This is because our staff members will travel all across their country to take photos of the children and update their information. I am so sorry you have not received Souberetou's new photo update. Souberetou just recently had a photo update in November. I have sent you another copy of her new photos in case the original update was lost in the mail. 

4) All Christmas donations are combined and then divided evenly among every child in our program. We typically suggest that sponsors give an amount of $25 per child, if they are able. With this fund, we purchase a meaningful gift specifically for each child and help purchase gifts for children who are not yet sponsored, or whose sponsors are not able to give. We do this because we want every child to receive a gift and to be included in a special Christmas celebration at their church-based center. It appears that this year you gave a total amount of $100 to the Christmas program in September on your account, and $100 on Eric's account. If you would prefer to have your donation go directly to your child, we are able to move your donation to a general gift for your child. Please do understand that even if we do this, your child will still receive a gift from the Christmas fund and in turn would get two gifts. Please let us know how you would like us to proceed and we will be happy to honor your request. 

5) I want to assure you that your donations are being sent to your children each month. Your children will also receive your birthday gift donations and the gift from the Christmas program. I am very sorry for any of our errors which have caused you to doubt the integrity of Compassion. It is clear that you chose your sponsorships very carefully and with prayer. If you have any further questions, please let us know! We would be happy to research further into what happened.
