Christmas Gift: I sent $25 for a Christmas gift for my sponsored child and it never showed up on my home page as sent. It says I’ve sent no gifts this year. I feel like this happened last year too and I want to say I put in to make a recurring gift but have no indication that that happened. I don’t feel like the website and app are very user friendly or informative. How do I check to see if my child received a gift from me or if my gift is recurring as I requested?

Hi Jessica! I sincerely apologize for the confusion this Christmas gift has caused you! I do see that you sent a Christmas gift of $25 to Compassion for Naherlie on October 15th. When you give a birthday, general or family gift, these gifts are given only to your sponsored child, or their family, to be used for what they need most at that time. These gifts will also show up on the app and website as gifts given. Christmas gifts are received and distributed differently than these gift types in that all Christmas donations are combined and then divided evenly among every child in the program. We do this because we want every child to receive a gift and to be included in a special Christmas celebration at their church-based center. Your sponsored child will be told that this gift is from you. Your contribution of $25 was put towards our Christmas fund, which does allow us to purchase a gift for Naherlie and every other child in the program. The gift won't show up on the app as a "gift" given because it doesn't go specifically to Naherlie, but it does show up on your giving history. You can find your giving history from the options on the left side of your "Account Summary" screen in your online account. I do see that your Christmas donation is an active annual gift currently, which means it will pull next year in October again. Let me know if you have any more questions!
