I gave a Christmas gift that was supposed to go to my sponsored child and his family and the accounting page shows it became a general Christmas fund gift. Please change it to what I had intended it to be.

Hi Julie, it was a bit of a surprise when I first learned that the Christmas gift is shared with all the kids in Compassion but after I thought about it, I was very thankful that Compassion does this.  Some children would never get anything if it weren't for this gift.  I try to always give at least one child extra each year (depending on my finances) to the Christmas fund.  Some sponsors can't afford to give to the Christmas fund so I am very glad when I can give extra for all the kids.  What I have found is the Christmas gifts my kids receive are frequently things like food and necessities and a small thing for them and I am so glad that if they have these needs, they can be met!  If you accidentally gave more than the recommended $20 per child, I am not sure if anything can be done or not.  A Compassion employee will answer this question as well and explain it further to you.

If you want to give your child a separate gift at Christmas, you can give a "Child gift" and your child will receive that and whatever all the other kids receive as well from the money that is pooled together for all the children at Christmas.  That gift would need to be given two months ahead of time to make sure they get it by Christmas.  Hope this explanation helps until you hear from someone at Compassion.

Julie, I am so very sorry for any misunderstanding there may have been when you gave this generous gift online or if it wasn't clear where your gift would go if you gave to the Christmas Program. I have requested that your gift be transferred and used as a family gift for Mutembei and his family. They will receive 100% of your donation and your boy will still receive a gift from our Christmas program in addition to the gift you sent. He will be told that this Christmas gift is from you as well. Thank you so much for blessing Mutembei and his family in such a very tangible way! You can expect to receive a thank you letter from him regarding what was purchased with this gift, within 6 months.
