I want to send a Christmas gift to my child-however Compassion is suggesting just sending money since there are so many regulations with sending over an actual package, can I specify how I want the money spent? (clothes, sneakers, etc)

When you donate to the Christmas fund, we combine all the donations we receive and split them evenly among all the children in our program so every child gets a gift. The project staff will choose a gift for every child in their center (age and gender appropriate) and give it to them on your behalf at the center's Christmas celebration. Children often receive items like clothing, shoes, toys, etc. Since the center staff chooses the gifts, you are not able to suggest what is purchased. But rest assured that your child will receive a wonderful, thoughtful gift from you.

We wanted to get Harrysson a Peyton Manning Bronco Jersey for christmas, which is our favorite football team. Is there a way we can send a jersey or we can send special amount of money for you to buy the jersey for us, to share something which is special to us for him.

Hi Savannah, as CI gifts are purchased in the child's local community to both support the local economy and cut down/eliminate the risk of theft going through customs and the associated fees, even if you requested such a gift to be purchased it is not possible. What you could do, is take pictures of you in jerseys and write Harrysson a letter about how football is a tradition in your family, how you enjoy being together to watch football and including the pictures of you. I know it isn't the same as sending a jersey, but it should be interesting information for your sponsored child as US football isn't popular in most places. One of my kids (boy aged 13) actually asked me to describe US football to him as he was interested in it.

I noticed that I can give an "additional gift" for my sponsored child, Yordonas. I want to do this for a Christmas gift. However, I don't completely understand how that works. I assume Compassion would make a purchase using the extra money I donate - but will they let me know what they buy with that money? Do I have a choice? I want what's best for her, but I also want to know what the gift is. Help, please! :)
