We heard that Compassion lost the ability to send funds from the US to India, the country where our sponsored child is living. Can you confirm this situation and if the gifts we give are reaching Kajal? We are aware of the current challenges that many Christian organizations are facing in India and want to clarify the current status of Compassion's registration in India. Thanks for your help.

Keith, I hadn't heard this. I had a girl in India. I'll be watching to see what Compassion's response is.

Keith, our offices in India have been under governmental scrutiny in recent years. Until now, we have received favorable assessments of our organization and have been allowed to continue our work. God has allowed almost 200,000 children, including your sponsored child Kajal, to continue attending their student centers and to be known, loved and protected. We have not lost the ability to send funds to India. Do you mind my asking where you heard that we had?

Trying to find Compassion student in or near Trivandrum, India. I've sponsored for 16 years. I'm friends with orphan young lady who in turn takes care of 4 orphan children. She is not askingfor money from me. Her brother -in-law lost his job. Any ideas to help? Thanks for replying :)

Here is a map of where Compassion projects in India are located.  https://www.flickr.com/photos/compassioninternational/3483403052/in/album-72157617338810841/
These are all for projects whose ID#'s begin with an IN as the East Indian projects are not near Trivandrum.  It looks like there are quite a few projects near Trivandrum.  You can plug in the project numbers starting with IN into the project number option on the search for a child option to find kids available for sponsorship in those projects.  (Ex. IN575 or IN799)  Hope that helps.

Hi Gayle! Thank you so much for trying to help this young lady out and introduce her to Compassion. We do actually have several projects in the Trivandrum area like Teresa mentioned. If you would, please email us at socialmedia@compassion.com for more information on sponsorship :).

Hi Susan,
I also was told that Compassion International has been listed as a terror organization by the Indian Government. Is this true? I know that it was doing such great projects here in India. Have they been forbidden to operate in India?

Christopher, I can assure you that we are not a terrorist organization and we are still operating in India at this time. May I ask who or where you have been receiving this information from?

I heard the same thing. I heard it from this article. That was posted on the Compassion Correspondants page recently. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/two-more-foreign-donors-on-watch-list/article8544417.ece

I just received a letter about this from Compassion and am wondering where the money is going that I have sent- I've only received one letter in the 6 months I have been sponsoring and it was a pre written letter. Is the money we donate going into an account and will later be distributed to our sponsored child?

I would suggest emailing Compassion at socialmedia@compassion.com since they asked us to refrain from talking about this on social media.

Actually, this forum is more open than the facebook groups, and they have removed all posts about it on the fb groups.  Still, there are people talking about it, I guess I don't understand why when we were asked in bold print not to.  (not referring to you, but other people that know better).

I can't delete the comment and the other people before me were writing about a similar topic also 5 months ago- not sure what I can do - did not mean to upset people (not referring to you either!)

Will we all be getting letters in the mail explaining the situation in India? I saw on the Facebook page that some people had gotten letters but so far or family has not. If this isn't something that I'll be getting in the mail, could someone email me regarding our child in east India?

Hi Rachel! It looks like your kiddo in East India is a correspondent child so you won't get the letter in the mail. I'm going to email you right now with the information.

I am preparing stickers, etc to mail to sponsored child. Are Spider-Man band-aids allowed to be mailed to India?

Hi newsponsor! I think these band aids are just fine :). Before clicking on the picture, I was weary if it had villains or if he was in his black suit from the other movie just because those might be a little more violent looking but these are awesome. I bet they'd love them! Especially if they've ever heard of Spiderman!

Hi Emily! Are we allowed to send band aids to our children? If so then how many band aids can I send per time? And band aid that has Antibiotic ointment on the pad allowed to send too?

Hi Jenny! Regrettably, Emily's answer was given a year ago, and, as you may be aware, we have since changed our guidelines and processes. Regrettably, you are no longer able to send band aids of any kind. Thank you for your heart to provide your kiddos with everything they needs. Please rest assured that your sponsorship provides them the access to regular health checkups and first aid needs. Have a blessed weekend!
