Compassion has changed my life!

My heart lept with joy when I got a thank you letter from my child, Darylle, in the mail today! He thanked me for the items he & his family were able to purchase with an extra $20 I had sent a couple of months ago. I can't believe he was able to buy so much! The letter included a picture of him with the things he had bought! I absolutely loved getting a picture of him! He looked so happy. It brings tears to my eyes looking at his picture. I have 2 pictures of him. The first one is the one I received in my sponsorship packet when I chose to sponsor him in Febuary. The second one is the one I received today. I can see a tremendous difference in him. In the first picture his head was tilted toward the ground & he looked so sad. In the picture I received today I can see hope in his eye & he held his head up. :-) He looks so proud & happy. He looks like he knows someone cares for him. I love writing to him & praying for him all the time. I love knowing that I can do something that matters to someone else. I love the friendship that I am able to develop with him. Last month I started writing three correspondant children. :-) I am so excited about the friendship I am going to develop with them. I love writing them, praying for them & sending them little things with their letters... Compassion has changed my life in so many ways I can not explain. I can forget about my problems more easily when I am caring for others who have less than I do. We serve a mighty God. I am so thankful I am able to share Him with these precious children. Thank you so very much for giving me this opportunity.

Hannah, thank you for sharing your story with us! I'm so glad you've been blessed by your sponsorship. I know Darylle has been blessed as well. :)

Hannah, I so agree that it is a blessing to be able to sponsor and/or write letters.  I love knowing that something small that I am doing makes a difference to precious people who are so far away.  It also means a lot to me that by letter writing we can encourage them in so many areas, such as that God is good, that he and we care for them, and that life can be beautiful.  Here is a website that I am enjoying because the writer so loves to send notes of encouragement and small paper gifts:
