Joann, I'm very sorry for any confusion or miscommunication that happened when we spoke with your mother. I apologize that we didn't explain our heart and reason why your mother could no longer correspond with the child she was no longer sponsoring. We commit to link each child to only one sponsor. Each Compassion-sponsored child has only one sponsor. We encourage sponsors to develop meaningful relationships of encouragement with the children they sponsor. If the Sponsor decides to no longer support their child, then we will search for a new sponsor for that child. Once this child is sponsored again, we keep that commitment of a one-to-one sponsorship. Because of this, previous sponsors may not continue to correspond with their former sponsored children. Our heart for this guideline is for every sponsor and child to have the opportunity of creating this special bond.

We also commit to the safeguarding of every child in our program. Because of this, you may only communicate with your sponsored child through Compassion. This is for your safety and for the child's safety. However, when a child graduates and leaves the Compassion program, we do have the option for a sponsor to continue to correspond with their former sponsored children outside of Compassion. If in the future, your mother would like to sponsor with us again, we would be blessed to partner with her. God bless you and Merry Christmas :).
