We get so much mail and email solicitations, it makes us wonder how much money is actually getting to our sponsor child.  It appears a lot of money is being funneled into administration

Neil, you can look on Compassion website to see their financial statement. 80.7% went directly to funding programs that benefit the children. 11% went towards fundraising and 8.3% went towards administration.

Hi Neil! Throughout the years, Compassion has consistently averaged more than 80 percent of total expenditures being used for program activities, with less than 20 percent being used for fundraising and administration. We commit to you that this will never, ever drop below 80%. This is one of the highest percentages for an organization like ours. Kristen so kindly provided you the link to our financial page, where you can see that 80.7% of our funding went directly to our program expenses. Your monthly sponsorship helps provide your child with life-changing benefits that include: nutritious snacks or meals, educational opportunities, health and hygiene training, medical checkups, the caring embrace of a local church, and the message of God’s love through Jesus Christ. Charity Navigator, an independent charity watchdog, is also a great place to do research on Compassion's financial integrity if you are interested in finding outside information.
