I am a little confused by the differing lists of acceptable gift items.  Some lists say that staples are not ok, some say they are.  Some say that silly bands are ok and some don't.  Some say puzzles are ok some say they are not.  I need a little clarification on the things that are ok to send in an 8.5x11 envelope.

Compassion can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe staples are fine to hold things together when you send them to Compassion... but you are supposed to remove them from things like small booklets, so that they are no longer resellable, this protects them from theft in the mail.

I think Silly bands used to be okay but now are not...

And puzzles are okay if pre-assembled and taped to a flat piece of cardboard so that Compassion can see the picture and that the pieces are all there, but you can not send them unassembled.

But hopefully Compassion can have a more accurate answer for you if I'm wrong, this is just what I find goes through for me when I mail stuff.

Melissa, I am so sorry for the confusion and misinformation regarding what can and cannot be sent to your child. I hope to help clear some of that up for you. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Also, if you could direct me to the lists that show different information I'll try to correct them to avoid further confusion. Generally, anything that is paper and under 8 1/2" by 11" by 1/4" goes through just fine. :)

- You are welcome to send things with staples on them. Regrettably, any larger pieces of metal will set off the metal detectors when they are going through customs.
-We can currently send silly bands but this will be changing in the next few months.
- Puzzles are permissible. Please put the puzzle together so that it is flat and we can make sure all the pieces are there.

The fact that we can send silly bands.  Because they are not paper they will not be able to send them much longer probably.
