I registered for a $20/year Christmas Gift Program in my account, but I don't remember what exactly it was for and I haven't been able to find any info on it.

Does that amount go directly to my sponsor child? Or just to the general Christmas program?

If the $20 is for my sponsor child and I wanted to send him more, could I add to that amount by giving at Thanks!

All the money that is donated to the Christmas Gift Fund goes into a general fund and is distributed equally to all the children weather they are sponsored or not so that everyone will receive a gift, If you want to send a gift directly to your child you need to send either a child gift or a family gift.

Hello, Monica! Craig's reply is correct. Whena Christmas donation is given, it is pooled into Compassion's Christmas fund(regardless of the amount). This fund is an accumulation of all the Christmasdonations that our sponsors give each year. Then, around Christmas time, thefund is evenly disbursed for all of the children in our programs, which meansthat each child will receive an equal value gift through this fund. Wedistribute Christmas gifts this way to ensure that all children (including oneswho do not have sponsors) receive a gift at Christmas. Under this program, yourchild is automatically covered for a Christmas gift. Your contribution (alongwith other sponsors') is crucial to making this program possible. The value ofChristmas gifts distributed last year equaled to around $15 per child.

If you want to give above and beyond to Peniel for Christmas, you may send him a monetary gift designated "Child Gift". Child gifts work just like birthday gifts, in that the funds will be given directly to your child, versus being pooled into a large fund. Giving a "Child Gift" is sort of a loophole for giving your child an additional gift at Christmas. The limits for child gifts are $10-$100. The frequency limit is one child gift and one Birthday gift ($10-$100) for your child per calendar year. Thank you so much for wanting to go above and beyond for Peniel this Christmas!
