Hi! I received a phone call today that one of my correspondent children lost his financial sponsor and asking if I would like to become his financial sponsor. Unfortunately I was at work, so the call went to voicemail. I called back, and was told that 'he is on hold for the financial sponsor' until June 27th. Meanwhile, he has disappeared from my account's list of correspondence children.

This happened to another of my correspondent children before. I got a voicemail asking if I wanted to take over, then when I called back, was told he or she wasn't available.

Is the child on hold for me? Or in case the financial sponsor changes their mind? It doesn't make sense that I would be called if I can't say 'yes', so now I am confused.

Thanks!

Karen,

I sincerely apologize for the confusion. In this particular case, the financial sponsor has not sent support for over six months. We have been trying to contact them to see if they would like to continue the sponsorship. They have until June 27 to contact us and then after that he will be made available for you to sponsor him. This is what the representative was talking about. Technically the child is not on hold for you yet. That said, you have a reservation on this child between June 27 and July 27. This means that if the financial sponsor does not call us back by June 27, your reservation will become a hold for him and you are welcome to sponsor him at that point. Or if you'd like, I'd be happy to check back and make sure that he is automatically added to your account if he is still available June 28.

I also want to apologize for the time before that this happened and the child was not available. That must have been very disappointing to get your hopes up about a particular child only to find that he was available for someone else. :( I know we had some issues with child holds a few months ago that led to some children whom we thought were on hold for a particular sponsor we made available in error due to system issues. This issue with child holds has now been resolved however.

Hi Susan, Thanks for the explanation - that makes sense. Yes, could you please have him automatically added to my account on June 28th if he is available? That's probably safer than waiting for a phone call, since they always seem to come when I'm at work :). Thanks!
