Hi! Two of my correspondent kids are receiving letters from someone else. Is this the paying sponsor? Should I continue writing? They are Samuel NI031600005 and Phutawan TH071500496. Thanks for your help!

Hello David! I appreciate you taking the time to let us know. I spoke with the financial sponsor for Phutawan and they would like you to continue to write to him. They were confused by a birthday appeal they received asking them to send a birthday card. I was not able to speak to Samuel's sponsor, but it appears to also be a birthday card, so it may be the same situation. However, I have sent a letter asking them to let us know their preference. In the meantime, I would encourage you to write to them as normal. I know that they enjoy receiving your letters.

I am confused. So me and the paying sponsor will both be writing? Will they also have access to the letters I write to him? Is this a new financial sponsor because it looked like a new sponsor card and they were welcoming him to the family. I don't want to disrupt a one on one relationship. Thanks for your help.

Was this a new correspondent? (Within the last 3-6 months)?  if so they may have filled out the new sponsor card when they got the packet and sent it in and it is just getting put on the system.  Also, financial sponsors can write once a year. Most don't but some like to write a birthday or a Christmas letter to their child even though they do not want to be responsible to do all the writing.

I have also had one financial decide to take back writing. They gave it up then realized they missed the connection. I was happy to give it back and pick up a different correspondent instead.

Hey David! I am so sorry for the confusion! Financial sponsors are actually able to send birthday cards to the children they support even if they have a correspondent sponsor set up for their children. You will be the only one writing to Phutawan and Samuel on a regular basis though. If you happen to see more letters from Phutawan or Samuel's financial sponsors in the future that are not birthday letters, please let us know so that we can reach out to them again to discuss the writing relationship. For now, I don't want you to be concerned as these should be the only letters they write to the children.
