I'm disappointed that a letter I sent my sponsored child wasn't received because it didn't meet the new guidelines. I don't feel like I was notified of the new guidelines ahead of time. I wish I would've had advanced notice that changes were coming so I could have been prepared. I put a lot of time into putting together a package to mail my sponsored child. Now my child won't receive the birthday package I mailed in time for his birthday.

I am another sponsor and I think online is where most information was given.  The good news is it takes a lot less time for our kids to receive our letters now!  I think it is 4 to 5 weeks now for almost every country.  Including our letter there can be six total pages both sides which is wonderful although I have only sent one extra sheet of photos with my letters.  If you have a Facebook page I would love to encourage to ask to be added to Compassion Sponsors/Correspondence Facebook Forum.  The email is socialmedia@compassion.com to request to be added. It is a wonderful group of sponsors sharing ideas for letters and things to send.  I don't know all the ins and outs yet of how to send using the online letter writing system.  I know how to send an extra sheet of photos is all but if you ask to join the group there are lots of people that could help you.

Compassion started sending mailer inserts around march/April in all correspondence. And they put the need guidelines on the envelopes that they send us to mail letters back to them.

Veronica, I didn't even notice those inserts KristenH mentions but take heart, if you use the Birthday letter form online there is a great chance he can get it before his birthday.  Send some pictures of your family to him online.  My understanding is our sponsored kids LOVE to receive our pictures of us with our families.  So sorry you had this experience!  Online we had time to adjust these changes and everyone was truly sad but we all have hope with the new system to have a closer relationship with our kids because their letters will get here more quickly also!  Hope to see you on Facebook!

Veronica, I am so sorry that these guidelines caught you off guard and have led to so much disappointment.  It sounds like you really put so much heart and love into these items for your child. Thank you so much for thinking about and caring for your child enough to want to wish them a happy birthday! I know that we were having some issues with the undeliverable notifications so there is a chance that your birthday package was actually sent. Basically, all items need to be paper, flat, and scan-friendly. This means things like coloring pages, greeting cards, photos, etc. can still be sent but they will be scanned and sent electronically. In addition, all pop-up cards, musical cards, stickers, and bookmarks will be physically mailed to the children. If you sent any of the items that I mentioned, please rest assured that they were sent to your child. If not, again, I am so sorry for the confusion and disappointment.
