Do children read their letters at home or with teacher? Can I send a letter to my child's teacher at the project?

I need to tell my sponsored child that my husband has passed away. I want to make certain her project teacher/leader will be there with her when she reads it. Is it possible to send this information to her teacher/leader first? Thanks

Oh Tammy, my heart breaks to know that your husband has passed away :(. I will be keeping you in prayer as you walk through such a difficult time of grief! With Isabela being 13 years old, she probably doesn't have an adult read most of her letters to/with her, but she would absolutely be able to find a tutor to talk to about your letter's content if she needs to. When I had to share hard news of my father passing with my Compassion kids, I actually asked that the younger ones find an adult they could read and process my news with. I also encouraged the older ones to do exactly what I mentioned earlier about not being afraid to talk to a tutor or a parent/guardian if they needed to. You are welcome to include a note to the tutor in your letter as well so that they can be aware of the situation and that Isabela may need some emotional support during this time. I know it isn't easy to share that kind of news with anyone, and I am praying for you as you write that letter and for Isabela as she reads it as well. One thing I found to be incredibly comforting while I was working through my grief in the first few months after my father passed away was the response I received from my kiddos who I shared that news with. It's truly amazing to see how much comfort and love God speaks into our lives through these precious children, and how much he does the same for them through our letters as well! Let me know if you have any other questions or need any more help at all, Tammy. We want to be here to support you!
