If I want to give my child an gift of $25, does 100% of that go toward my child? Or does Compassion take a cut?

The 10% is used to pay for the process to get your gift to your child - the time it takes for an employee to shop for and deliver the gift, etc.  It would be a different matter if it just involved handing your check to your child, but there's more involved in buying and delivering a gift, etc., and this money needs to come from somewhere.  Since gifts are optional, it makes sense to do this, instead of raising everyone's monthly fees.

Agreed Mary. The cost of transferring money needs to be covered somehow.
