if I sponsor a child, does the money go to give him the things he needs or does it benefit all the kids in the program/ church?

I am not an employee of Compassion but I have been sponsoring for over 12 years.  I would say it is a little of both because there are some paid employees at the projects that work with all the kids and then the program buys things for the kids depending on the project.  For example:  school uniforms, some supplies.   Food at the project is bought and used for all the kids.  They have classes for the parents/guardians of the children.  Compassion has the highest rating a charity can get from Charity Navigator for using the funds in the wisest way possible!
Brielle, are you on Facebook?  There is a really nice closed group called "Compassion Sponsors/Correspondents Facebook Forum" that I would recommend joining.  It is wonderful, friendly and very helpful. Sponsors share about their children and ask each other questions etc.  To ask for an invitation to join send and email to socialmedia@compassion.com
