Hello,

I gave a $100 birthday donation for my child to receive a gift back in January (birthday was in April). I read that I should receive a picture of the gift that was purchased. I have not seen a picture come yet. Should I expect to see one and if so, how soon?

God bless,
Courtney

Courtney, I am so sorry to hear that you have not received the photo for this very generous gift. It looks like your child sent the thank you letter in March but no photo was attached. I am sending an inquiry today to request the photo as soon as possible and we will contact you just as soon as we have it. Thank you so much for letting us know about this issue!

Susan, I, also, am waiting to receive photos and thank you letters for 2 gifts I gave in January and 1 gift I gave in March. Are the gifts not being processed within 6 months anymore? I don't like to 'beg' for a thank you. Does Compassion have a way to monitor whether or not thank you letters and photos have been sent? No news after such a long time makes me wonder if the money was received, if the gift has been purchased yet, if the center just didn't keep track of what thank you's needed to be sent, etc.

Beth,

Please do not look at it as begging as much as letting us know when there is a problem that needs to be fixed. You are completely entitled to know how your generous gift was used and we are happy to make sure you receive what is due to you in this way. It does help us though if you could give us child numbers for the children that you are needing inquiries for. That said, I have looked up every single gift you had sent in that time period, researched all of them, and sent inquiries for those that were needed.

I am very sorry to hear that the lateness of these letters is causing you to doubt whether the gift made it to where it was supposed to go. We have several measures in place to ensure that the money is wired, the family signs on receipt of the gift, receipts are filed, thank you letter stationary is generated, the child writes on the stationary, the letter is translated, and is delivered on time. That said, as you may have noticed, there are many steps in the process and sometimes if one step in the process is not in place the letter could be late. That said, after many years of sending inquiries, the vast majority of gifts are delivered and delivered on time. The main issue is getting all the components of the thank you letter back to the supporter in time. Also, please keep in mind that not too long ago our country offices implemented their new translation software which is slowing down some of the letters temporarily while they adjust to the new system. Everything should speed back up again in the coming months.

Thank you, Susan!

That is so sweet that he wrote a thank you letter. I never did see that. I just checked my letters online, and I don't have one from March in my account.

Is there by chance any way for me to see that?

Thanks again,

Courtney

Courtney, I apologize for the confusion. It was written the end of March but delivered April 11. While the stationary says that it is supposed to be a thank you letter for this gift, the letter itself does not actually say thank you. I'm so sorry for that! We'll be sure to get you some more information about the use of this gift through the inquiry.
